#WineryWeek on Twitter Starts Tomorrow!

There is a lot of buzz and anticipation about the first ever #WineryWeek which starts tomorrow on Twitter. #WineryWeek will run from Monday April 19th through Friday April 23rd. It’s going to be a great opportunity to celebrate all wineries, wine makers and their wines. Wine enthusiasts will be participating throughout the week tweeting about their favorite wineries and wines, recommending them to their @followers, sharing wine reviews, plus links to winery articles, the wines themselves, pictures and more. This new Twitter tradition is going to be a great time for all so plan on attending.

#WineryWeek was started to honor, promote and build awareness for wineries around the world. It will be celebrated the third week of every month.

How to Participate in #WineryWeek?

Wine Lovers and Enthusiasts:

1. Select a variety of wines from different wineries.
2. Drink the wines during the week and tweet your thoughts.
3. Add the #WineryWeek hash tag to every tweet.
4. If the winery is on Twitter, locate them, and include them in your tweets: (e.g. @CooperMtnWines ).
5. Encourage others to try the wines that you like.

Wineries, Wine Shops, Wine Merchants and Professionals:

1. Use or setup your Twitter account to participate in the #WineryWeek event.
2. Select and promote a variety of your wines.
3. Tweet your thoughts about the wines and answer questions.
4. Add the #WineryWeek hash tag to each of your tweets.
5. Promote your winery, website and blog.

*** Please Note *** During #WineryWeek certain wineries and merchants may offer specials, sales and on location tastings and events so keep your eyes and ears open for them.

Virtual Tweetup and Tasting – Friday April 23rd.

There will be a Virtual Tweetup and Tasting on Friday April 23rd to close #WineryWeek. Participants will tweet together in “real-time” their thoughts, tasting notes, opinions and recommendations of wines from different wineries. People will be able to ask questions directly to the wineries and wine makers. In The U.S. this Virtual Tweetup and Tasting will start at 7:00 pm EST and go through 10:00 pm EST. Other countries may decide to have their Virtual Tweetup and Tasting at a time that better suits their time zone. I would recommend that participating wineries and wine shops invite people in their local area to join them on location as well for the Virtual Tweetup and Tasting. This is creative and great fun for all.

So make your plans, buy some wines for the event, spread the word, get your friends and your favorite wineries to participate in #WineryWeek. I am looking forward to having you actively participate next week. Thank you all very much in advance for helping to make #WineryWeek a great new tradition on Twitter.

#WineryWeek is Coming to Twitter – April 19th – 23rd

I wanted to give everyone an update on the upcoming #WineryWeek event on Twitter. The response from the Wine Community has been wonderful. Everyone is excited and willing to do their part. The first ever #WineryWeek will be held on Twitter from April 19th – 23rd. It’s going to be a fun filled week where people around the globe will celebrate wineries, the wine makers and their amazing wines. I’ve decided to open the event up to every winery, not only those on Twitter, so they will all be able to gain maximum exposure during the event. I do encourage participating wineries to establish a Twitter account, if they don’t have one already, so they will be able to tweet and respond to people’s questions throughout this weekly event.

Many wineries in The States, and from around The World, have expressed their interest and intention in participating in #WineryWeek. I’ve also had an enormous amount of wine enthusiasts inform me that they will be actively participating as well. I need your help to continue to spread the word on #WineryWeek so we can make this first event very special. Please tweet often about #WineryWeek over this coming week so we can continue to spread and get the word out.

I understand that certain wineries, wine shops and restaurants are planning events during #WineryWeek. This is a great idea and opportunity to draw people in and to celebrate the love of wine. Also, don’t forget there will be a Virtual Tweetup and Tasting on Friday April 23rd to close #WineryWeek. Participants will tweet their thoughts, tasting notes, opinions and recommendations of wines from different wineries. People will be able to ask real-time questions directly to the wineries and wine makers. In The States this Virtual Tweetup and Tasting will start at 7:00 pm EST and go through 10:00 pm EST. I would also recommend that participating wine establishments consider having people from their local area join them as well during the Virtual Tweetup and Tasting as well. They can sip, talk and tweet on location. This is creative and great fun for all.

So make your plans, choose your wines, spread the word, get your friends and your favorite wineries to participate in #WineryWeek. I am looking forward to #WineryWeek becoming a great new tradition for the Wine Community on Twitter.

The New #WineryWeek Event on Twitter

Yesterday I announced that I am starting a new tradition on Twitter called #WineryWeek. The response has been been amazing. We will celebrate #WineryWeek on the third week of every month with the first ever event occurring this month between April 19th through April 23rd.

The premise of the event is simple. We will honor the Twitter wineries, their amazing wines and the great people behind them. Throughout the #WineryWeek event people from around the globe will tweet about specific wineries, recommend them to their @followers, share reviews of the wines, plus provide links to blog articles, pictures and more. It’s a great way for Twitter wineries to get a whole new level of exposure. Participating wineries can tweet during the event and be available to answer questions.

On Friday’s, the last day of each #WineryWeek event, there will be virtual tweetup where people from around the world will open and sample wines from various Twitter wineries in real-time. People will tweet their thoughts, tasting notes, opinions and recommendations. Participants can ask real-time questions directly to the wineries, wine makers, wine sellers and retailers.

This new #WineryWeek tradition on Twitter is going to be special and a lot of fun. I could use your help in spreading the word. It would be wonderful if I could get people in different states and countries to tweet about #WineryWeek in their local areas. I’d love to have as many wineries involved as possible. The only prerequisite of this event is that the wineries must be on Twitter. For all you facebook “only” wineries, who have been waiting for a reason to create a Twitter account, the time has come. We would love to have you aboard.

If you are interested in getting involved and in helping to coordinate this event please send me an email to twesommelier@wineryweek.com. I will post more news and information as the event draws near.

Thank you very much!
